Day Students

Day students are an important part of the Upper School and are expected to take part in all aspects of school life, including camping trips and field trips. Although they are required to remain on campus until the end of their athletic commitment, they are welcome to stay for dinner and through evening study hall.

Day students are also welcome to stay overnight in the dorms on weekends and to eat meals in the cafeteria, provided they make arrangements by 6 p.m. with the dormitory supervisor on duty. It is understood that when day students remain on campus after the end of the school day, they are then subject to the rules that apply to resident students.  Thus, if they are on campus for the weekend they must follow proper sign out procedures.

Parents must call the school between 7:45 and 8:15 am to let the front office know if a student will be absent. It is the student's responsibility to get and make up assignments.

For those students driving their own vehicles to campus, cars are to be parked in the amphitheater parking lot upon arrival on campus in the morning and are not to be used until the end of the school day. Day students may not leave campus during the day without special permission from the Day Student Advisor, the Assistant Headmaster, or the Headmaster.

The school is responsible for the safety of all students.  Therefore, day students must not give rides to resident students unless permission is given by the Headmaster or Assistant Headmaster and written permission by parents is on file in the office. All students must have written permission on file to ride with day students and must receive prior school approval from the Headmaster or Assistant Headmaster each time they ride with a day student.

Day students may have cell phones on campus but must adhere to all school policies regarding their use.

For more information about the policies and rules at the Upper Campus, please review the 2012/2013 Student Handbook.
