English as a Second Language Program

Bonjour! Здравствуйте! Buongiorno! 여보세요! Hello! And welcome. Ojai Valley School has been recognized worldwide as a leader in English language programs. In summer, international students ages 8-16 can develop their language skills and experience American culture while interacting with peers from around the world.

Boys and girls are housed in separate age-appropriate dormitories on campus with two or three campers per room. Camp counselors live in each dorm. In the evenings and weekend, campers are given the opportunity to participate in sporting events, dances, beach trips, and other activities.

ESL in Summer Camp

This is an ideal program for international students who want to improve their language proficiency during the summer. Ojai Valley School offers beginning, intermediate and advanced English as a Second Language (ESL) classes.

At the start of camp, ESL students are assessed to determine their level of English language proficiency. They attend morning classes to develop their reading, writing, listening, and speaking skills. They are fully integrated into the camp by participating in activities with American peers during the afternoon, evening and weekends. Students attend ESL classes in the morning and participate in afternoon activities, including soccer, swimming, table tennis, swimming, computers, and more.

TOEFL preparation and test-taking skills are taught in classes for advanced students, and the language exams are administered at the beginning and end of camp to measure student progress.

ESL students should select only this program on the application. Students can enroll in two-week, four-week, or six-week sessions.
