Summer Reading

June 24, 2012
Summer vacation is a great time to reinforce the joy of reading, and the Lower and Upper campuses of Ojai Valley School provide reading lists to help students stay sharp during the summer and return ready to take on the upcoming school year.

The intent is for students to read thought-provoking literature that will stimulate questions and ideas for discussion throughout the year. Click here to view the Lower Campus reading selections and here to see the Upper Campus reading list.

In many cases, students will have writing assignments based on the literature, so it is important that they familiarize themselves with the summer reading requirements so that they know what is expected of them.

Researchers emphasize the importance of having students read during the summer, as they can quickly lose the progress they made during the school year. And remember, reading can be a great family pursuit as well!
