The Lower Campus boys' soccer team cruised to a 5-0 victory over the Laguna Blanca Owls last week, clinching the CAL League Championship.
The team, which finished the fall season undefeated, claimed its first CAL League Championship since joining the league five years ago.
“It was great to win the league,” said eighth-grader and lead scorer Davis Smith. “It was an eye opening season for us and we are all very proud.”
The scoring in last week's game was started by a 25-yard goal by eighth grader Andre Ryder, opening the flood gates for the 5-0 victory.
The win was on par for the Spuds, who only allowed four goals the entire season, thanks in part to goalkeeping by eighth-grader Keller Mochel. The team was led in scoring by Davis Smith who finished with 16 goals.
